She Suffers II: “Where are You?”

“Woodland Waterfall” by Tom Thomson

The man isn’t clingy;
“clingy” is too belittling,
it’s degrading,
too degrading.

He is possessive;
he knows what he wants
and he’ll get and keep it at all costs.
Being possessive is cute.

The woman is possessive?
I think not.
She is clingy,
maybe too clingy.
You can’t own a man;
you have to let him live.
A man is not built to be
with just one woman.

You see, unfortunately,
men can’t be hoes,
but women can.
Being clingy isn’t cute;
it will never be.

Unfuckwithable

She protected her inner world fiercely
like a lioness protecting her cubs.
She wore silence like a cloak,
and liked to cleverly observe.

They tried to take the ‘cloak’ off,
but she politely declined,
and when they tried to rip it off,
she terribly roared.

Listening

Listening

“Yes.”

I am assessing the size of your eyes
and the magnificence of each,
the crevices of your earlobes,
the shape of your nose,
the way it gorgeously sits on your face,
the curves of your lips,
your beautifully-sculpted cheeks,
the way your tongue dances
in your mouth as you speak.

“Yes, I’m listening to you.”

Every part of you,
and every detail of you.

Reign, Queen of African Descent

The darker her skin,
the darker her days,
the harder she works,
the harder she prays,
the deeper she loves,
the shorter he stays,
the faster she tries,
the slower it pays

Your royal highness,
constantly oppressed queen,
though your days may be dark
like the colour of your skin,
you are bright enough to be
whatever and wherever you want to be;
you deserve to stride in.

She Suffers: The Woman Proposed

Yesterday, you braced yourself.
With all the courage that you had,
you told them how you really felt,
and what all your affection meant.

Today, they told you that they loved you;
they’ve shown you life and it’s brand new.
They’ve come to make your dark sky blue;
there’s nothing, for them, that you wouldn’t do.

Tomorrow, you’re going to have a fight;
the things they’ll say are going to hurt you.
If you threaten to leave if they don’t change,
they’ll react in a way that you’ll find strange.
The words they’ll say will be quite true,
“I didn’t come to you first,
I didn’t want you.”

Wild Thoughts

Make me your trinity:
Treat me like your mum;
listen to me and respect me.
Treat me like your best friend;
talk to me and trust me.
Treat me like your baby;
love me and pamper me.

MANnerless

A MANnerless woman is the kind
that wants to be entitled to the same
level of respect as her fellow human beings,
irrespective of the differences in gender/sex.
There isn’t a being as scary and threatening
as a MANnerless woman.

Moving On

Nude Back

“Nude Back” by Michael Escoffery

I was devastated,
but more accurately, devastation was me.
I wasn’t happy,
and almost all of the time,
unhappiness clung very tightly to me.

I didn’t even feel that I was living,
that I was,
because I couldn’t feel,
and when I did, it hurt.

One minute, I thought,
“he left me,
so I’ll leave me too.”
The next, I thought,
“he dislikes me now,
so I’ll like me.
Who the hell needs him;
who?”

I’ll dislike all the things he likes.

He likes water,
so I’ll hate water.
He likes air,
so I’ll hate air.
He likes fire,
so I’ll hate fire.
He hates life,
so I’ll hate life.

The ‘only’ that truly like me,
water,
air,
fire
and life;
are the same things keep us alive.

How do you find peace
when a piece of you is gone?
How do you put yourself together
when you’re left in the cold to burn?

“Does he miss me?
Does he miss at feast,
or has he found a different Miss?
Is there a new Beauty for my Beast?”

You have a list of things you hope
he’ll remember and cherish at least.

It hurts;
it’s like an invisible stab to the chest.
It really hurts.

Moving on
and looking back;
moving back
and shedding tears.
Moving on
and looking back;
looking blank
and shedding fears.

That is how the broken have moved on,
for years and years.

I’m Not a Sex Doll

If you mainly came to come,
you shouldn’t have.

If you don’t kiss the sole of my feet first,
I cannot give you my soul.

Breathing life into dust first is a must;
know what to do to make things whole.

Without love, patience and commitment,
I’m never going to make things “hole”.
